Even routine snowstorms are sensationalized now and category one hurricanes are billed as the storm of the century. It is so important to turn it off and tune it all out because your brain is like a highly-efficient super computer. The garbage in, garbage out rule definitely applies. It seems these media people just do not know about the power of positive thinking, persistance, hard work and prayer. Thank God we have Christian Music Radio Stations like KLOVE (.com) etc. to save the day (every day).
I know employees over 50 years old normally offer value that is normally double or triple that of recent college graduates. I should know, I am a High-Performance Resume Writer. Most employers apparently agree with this because their compensation packages typically rise as they move through their 40s and 50s too. The deep recession, the huge glut of talent and the ObamaCare Law delaying hiring are more than enough issues for candidates to worry about.
If you are over 50 and looking for work don't let that toxic thought take hold in your mind for a single moment. You don't need excuses. You need encouraging words, new strategies (yes hair dye), positive thoughts, help from your professional network and support from http://HowToFindWorkNow.org. I know we can be far more effective by speaking and listening to encouraging words. The only thoughts worthy of your focus are solutions that strengthen your resolve.
I know candidates over 50 years of age offer added value to employers (each in their own unique way). I'm 49 now and I have never offered more productivity, talent and impressive results than I do now. How many people can honestly say they are genuine experts in five different areas?
Then there's this thing called a work ethic, most baby boomers are famous for. Many people of my generation literally run circles around new college graduates. We don't play video games, shop on the Internet at work, play video poker or waste time on Facebook while we are on the job. We produce, have well-established networks and routinely exceed expectations.
Another thing, employers are accutely aware there have been many humongous settlements/awards from age-discrimination lawsuits. Then there was Ronald Reagan, who was elected President at the age of 70 and went on to become an American Hero.
Remember Joe Torre, who was hired by the NY Yankees in 1996? He was over fifty and went on to win World Series Championships with the Yankees in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 and just missed another one in 2001 by a tiny margin. Now, that is high return on investment. I could go on forever with examples like Reverend Billy Graham, Paul Harvey (and now you know the rest of the story...), Mark Levin, Mitt Romney, Donald Trump, Martha Stewart and the late NY Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, but you get the message by now.
The bottom line is, don't ever let the turkeys in the bad news media get you down. No wonder they call it the "lamestream media." I recommend you tune into Christian Music Radio instead for empowering and positive music.
