We can all look forward to Electric Boat bringing lots of jobs to RI once the funding is officially approved by congress. These stealthy nuclear submarines (peace-keeper subs) made by Electric Boat are the envy of many other countries. Additionally, all the local colleges, universities and trade schools are always expanding and hiring. CVS, Fidelity Investments The Brown University Medical School, Green Airport, Hasbro, many hospitals and FM Global are always growing and expanding. It just does not receive much press coverage because incremental improvements are not so newsworthy (the media remains focused on bad news/fear-mongering, so listen at your own risk).
However, in RI every job is precious as evidenced by the very favorable deal 38 Studios received (ouch) after they were repeatedly turned away by most of the other states. At least we put the ball in play, although it turned out to be a huge loss for the tax payers. No one can say Governor Carcieri didn't do his best to attract business. I'm proud of his tireless efforts. The fact remains that RI is still a fantastic place to live, vacation and raise a family. Where else does everyone know your name? Where else can you ever meet such friendly and wonderful people?
By the way this entire website is my effort to be part of the solution as a Christian Soldier in the War on Poverty --> http://HowToFindWorkNow.org because action speaks louder than words. Ironically, as much as I loved RI, I too had to move back to Texas after taking big losses in my RI real estate and stock market investments in the Great Recession. Now, to all you folks bad mouthing RI/your home state, please consider a better course of action. Either man up and be part of the solution, earn a better income/career or show these pathetic leaders/politicians that you are not going to take being fleeced anymore by moving out of state. Honestly, RI needs all of the positive energy it can possibly muster right now.
