Many ideas for cash-flow jobs follow, but first let's talk strategy. I recommend that you avoid filing for unemployment compensation entirely. Here's why, the income you receive is very low, the hassle you must go through to collect it is arduous, there's a two-week red tape delay before you are even eligible to receive unemployment compensation and it's just flat out more efficient and profitable to obtain immediate cash-flow job aka side hustle. Example, the maximum unemployment check in my state is $235/week vs. the average temporary/cash-flow job pays double or triple that per week depending how many hours you want to work. Meanwhile, you do not deplete your savings, you can pay your bills and you don't suffer from excessive stress during your job search. This means you can actually present yourself calmly and professionally to employers during job interviews, which is vital to your success because employers can sense desperation and you do not want to negotiate your new salary from a position of weakness. You want to be paid what you are worth. Thus, my recommendation to avoid unemployment compensation except as a last resort. Trust me, businesses everywhere need talent and temporary work/cash-flow jobs are abundant!
Become an Independent Consultant in an area where you have the most expertise and value/demand: If you have expertise this isn't just a good idea, it's a great idea because your income as an expert Independent Consultant will likely be far higher than many other cash flow jobs (below). Note: Expertise begins with 10 years of experience otherwise you have normal proficiency. Consultants (e.g., Remediation Project Manager/Consultant with a PMP certification from the Project Management Institute) in many fields earn big bucks because of their expertise (not mere proficiency).
Consider working as a Grill Cook, Fry Cook, Short-Order Cook, Assistant Sous Chef, Sous Chef, Assistant Chef or Pizza Cook in a local restaurant/bistro/pub/deli near you. There is such a shortage of talented cooks and chefs (all types) it's nuts. More restaurants than ever will train and coach you. Thankfully, it's gets easier and easier with time because you often have the same menu for six months at a time. There are perks include shift meals and beverages, retention raises, lucrative employment offers from other Restaurant Chefs/Kitchen Managers, traditional benefits, plenty of overtime pay is available year round, employee discount, advancement to higher earning positions or management etc. If you enjoy cooking for friends and family already, you are likely off to a great start in the culinary world. Today, you have high-quality education from some of the best Chefs on the planet on the Food Network, and YouTube Videos. So advancement opportunities are virtually unlimited. There is also tremendous camaraderie in the kitchen because the lunch and dinner rush, special events, and banquets mean tickets/orders come into the kitchen fast and furiously. After busy shifts your teammates in the kitchen will often take you for a drink or two at the local tavern or pub. Oh what fun that is! In many areas of the country it is very helpful to learn to speak Spanish.
Work as an Uber or Lyft Driver: It’s an ideal situation for a temporary cash flow/part-time job for job hunters/college students/graduate school students – Fast cash, work whatever schedule suits you, flexible daily work and you can start immediately if you have a reliable vehicle. Now, if you possess good people skills and you can maximize your earnings by being present when people need rides the most: sporting events over, concerts over, bars closing, big attractions closing time, commuting times, being close to small-medium sized airports, train stations and bus stations etc. If your vehicle is in good shape and gets decent mileage than this temporary work pays far more than unemployment does. Once you have some experience locating the local passenger hot spots for instant fares, it is not unusual for Uber/Lyft Drivers to earn $1500+ per week gross ($60K+/year). Plus, you can network and build relationships with your passengers because one of them could just be your new boss. 8v) It’s always a big plus (think bigger tips), if you can keep a cooler filled with cold bottled water for your thirsty clients (especially if you’re working during the summer or after the bars/nightclubs close). This includes working as a Virtual Assistant (Administrative Assistant), Technical Support/PC Troubleshooter, doing data entry, writing/typing, editing, coaching, consulting, assembly work, coding, website development, website design, graphic design, tutoring, translating, interpreting, social media marketing, public relations, online marketing, life coaching, fitness coaching, weight-loss coaching etc. Obviously, Skype for Business is big help for many of these services.

You can advertise under Roommates for regular monthly rent, or you can advertise under short-term lodging to give visiting professionals who travel an affordable alternative to a hotel. AirBnB.com made this niche well-known and popular across the globe since you save significantly vs. hotels. If you are going this route, it might be wise to put good locks on some of your household doors, so everyone feels safe and to thwart would-be theives.
