These jobs are known as the hardest to fill by hiring committees/hiring managers, internal Talent Acquisition Specialists/Recruiters, recruiting firms and employers. Employers are often forced to pay signing bonuses or a premium recruiting commission of 25-30% vs. the standard 20% commission. Additionally, employers are often happy to pay for professional certifications for the employees in these professions because they will be morally obligated to stay longer once they receive that help. So, unlike most professions, Hospitals, Emergency Care Facilities, Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, Rehab Centers and Memory Care Facilities are all open 24-7, 365 days per year and have three shifts to fill every single day. Further, these jobs demand an MS or doctorate, except Registered Nurses and Paramedics. RN can become state licensed with an Associate of Science in Nursing (a 2-year program) which normally involves a hands-on Nursing internship for six months aka Practicum.
Paramedics must have experience working as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), have a high school diploma, and graduate from a Paramedic Training Program typically 18-24 months. Tractor Trailer Truck Drivers/Professional Driver, and Cross-Country/Regional Truck Drivers – Dallas Fort Worth Texas is a big hub for the third-party logistics (3PL) and Transportation industry. The Truck Driver shortage is very real, has lasted for decades, and looks to persist in the future because most young professionals want to spend time with their spouse/family/friends on nights and weekends. However, that creates a tremendous opportunity and job security for those who do enter the profession.
As a result of decades of scarcity, Truck Drivers are now paid more than ever before with compensation of $100,000 - $115,000 for experienced long-haul truck drivers, and $90,000-$100,000 for experienced Route Truck Drivers (home at night routes). Yes, we have hit new all-time historical highs in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, NASDAQ and S & P in 2021, so we are officially in our 12th consecutive year of a bull market after the March 2008 lows of the Financial Crisis. This is amazing, but it’s also due in part to quantitative easing (QA = the Fed’s euphemism for unprecedented massive money printing), a huge reduction in corporate income tax, personal income tax cuts, official unemployment figures that were rigged for political gain and interest rates that were kept artificially low for the last nine years. However, we do have free markets where buyers buy and sellers sell of their own free will. Thus, this extended vacation from reality isn’t going to last much longer. Yes, we have hit new all-time historical highs in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, NASDAQ and S & P in 2021, so we are officially in our 12th consecutive year of a bull market after the March 2008 lows of the Financial Crisis. This is amazing, but it’s also due in part to quantitative easing (QA = the Fed’s euphemism for unprecedented massive money printing), a huge reduction in corporate income tax, personal income tax cuts, official unemployment figures that were rigged for political gain and interest rates that were kept artificially low for the last nine years. However, we do have free markets where buyers buy and sellers sell of their own free will. Thus, this extended vacation from reality isn’t going to last much longer. Further, there is no doubt that when the stock markets and economy does revert to the mean it isn’t going to be pretty.
