Job Search Advice From 1700 Successful Executives and High Achievers
By Darrell DiZoglio of http://RighteousResumes.com Copyright May 07, 2020; All Rights Reserved.
As a busy Executive Résumé Writer, I am blessed to be able to interview and learn from thousands of executives and entrepreneurs. During these in-depth interviews, I listened intently and took notes. Many of my younger clients advanced to became Leaders on Wall Street or Directors, VPs or Presidents in their own industries. Often, they were generous enough to enlighten me on their hiring practices. I also asked how did they become successful so I could enlighten you. Now, I am going to share some of this priceless wisdom with you because I know you will help make the world a better place with it.
Identify an impressive, but realistic and achievable goal related to one of your true passions. Cement that in your mind. Thank God and pray often. "Ask and it shall be given unto you." Then act boldly on it in faith.
Live your life with an attitude of gratitude every day. Give thanks to the Lord God Almighty for all the blessings you have received, are receiving now and will be enjoying in the near future. The greatest of these is Love.
Make sure your goals are aligned with all that is good, right and just. Ideally, your goals should involve service to others or make the world a better place. "The One Who Blesses Others Is Always Abundantly Blessed." Proverbs
Make sure your business/career goals are aligned with market demand or soon will be. They call it the Law of Supply and Demand for a reason.
Write a bold statement that you will achieve this goal at least 50 times. Example "I will increase annual sales for my business by 88% this year."
Post written reminders of your new goals where you will see/read them daily.
"The energy flows where the attention goes." Every day you have a choice to accept Love or Fear into your live. Simply, choose love every day!
Map out a written strategy to achieve your major goals. You must plan and research to succeed, and believe in yourself to achieve your goals.
Embrace continuous improvement and make a commitment to life-long learning. Even learning an hour a day will yield marvelous results.
Invest and leverage expert professional assistance. Investing in your own success is the equivalent of a farmer buying his seeds. Example – Hire a proven Executive Résumé Writer or CPRW to achieve the job search or sales results you want. Leveraging the expertise of others is a powerful success formula that smart people learn early to rely on. Results matter!
Take bold action on that systematic marketing plan for your success. "Fortune Favors the Bold."
Eliminate energy draining/counter-productive activities such as ingesting too much sugar or caffeine, TV watching, drinking alcohol, taking drugs, thinking negative thoughts, making excuses, accumulating debt, gambling, short-term thinking, being with negative people/complainers/victims etc. You alone are the captain of your ship, so steer her away from waters known to be dangerous. The goal-setting, self-actualization and belief habits are the catalysts for success transmuting mere thoughts and supernatural/spiritual energy into reality. "Do something constructive."
Add people to your team to delegate and multiply your efforts/ideas as soon as you reasonably can.
Build your radiant health and God-given intelligence by eating a healthy diet, getting enough rest and exercising daily. Your good health is priceless, so eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits for vitamins and minerals.
Make positive affirmations to reinforce your belief that success is coming your way. Know that there is more than enough to go around and the universe is always in a state of abundance. You simply need to tune into it by remaining faithful and focusing (using your reticular activating system).
Continue to take bold action. "God helps those who help themselves."
Refuse to Quit. "Effort only releases that reward when a person refuses to quit." Napoleon Hill. "Persistence alone is omnipotent." Calvin Coolidge.
Follow up and follow through while maintaining your confidence.
Set up an automatic savings withdrawal plan for your retirement to ensure you always pay yourself first. It is not how much you earn, but how much you save that makes you wealthy enough to retire comfortably.
Enjoy the fruits of your labor, intelligence and investment. Tithe – Give God his 10% and share generously with others and charities.
The more you share the more you will prosper. Remember, the universe was designed by God, creator of heaven and earth who loved us so much he sacrificed his only son for the forgiveness of our sins.
Always speak encouraging words and empower others, especially those less fortunate than you are. There is more than enough abundance to go around. You will be richly rewarded for helping others in heaven.
Realize that the greatest of God's blessings (Love, Laughter, Friendship, Family, Liberty, Children, Pets, Gardening, Nature, Health, Beauty, Learning, Singing etc.) are free and share this knowledge daily.
Know this, "Less is More…", "Love isn't love until you give it away." and "You already have everything you need to be great." White Feather.
"Carpe diem." Live each day to its fullest, squeeze in some fun and keep smiling. Know that the best is yet to come.
The unvarnished truth about success is that we each make our own luck in life. We all are creators of value. Success is merely a matter of how much value we offer others/the world. Notice how well people in the sports and entertainment seem to do. Also, notice how many big lottery winners, sports and entertainment stars go completely broke at some point because they forgot to keep creating value. As an Executive Résumé Writer, the smart and prosperous executives/leaders I interviewed and wrote for knew that the harder and smarter they worked to create value and the more they saved, the luckier they became.
Today, unemployed geniuses, dreamers and wishers are everywhere. Distinguish yourself from the masses by making noteworthy contributions to your employer, continuing your education and training, volunteering and by building your professional network. These career enhancing activities are essential to advancing your career. I urge you to become one of the most valuable people on the planet with ACTION that creates value.

Business communication skills are of paramount importance when you are in a job search. In fact, the higher your annual compensation is the more they are important. Hold yourself accountable and face the fact that you will be judged for your professionalism, logic and written communication skills by critical, doubting and skeptical hiring managers/busy recruiters/HR managers. The solution for this challenge is to become as attractive as possible for employers even during the initial screening stage. It is normal for professionals to dress for success during their interviews right? It is also normal for successful professionals to invest in expert résumé writing help right? So, why wouldn't you want to do everything possible to advance your chances when applying and corresponding with employers and recruiters?

Dallas & Houston, TX Beat NYC; Rank #1 & 2 in Best Cities For Finance Jobs
By Darrell DiZoglio, CPRW of http://RighteousResumes.com Copyright 9/5/2013 All rights reserved.
Straight from the Institute for Supply Management's press release published today on AccountingToday.com - Here is the top ten list of US cities to find employment in finance: "Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; San Francisco, Irvine, California; New York City & Long Island, N.Y.; Atlanta, GA; Seattle, WA; Richmond, VA; Chicago, IL; Phoenix, AZ." What's interesting here is Dallas and Houston, TX beat out New York City for the first time I can remember.
Hmm, do you notice that Virginia the #1 or 2 most business friendly state in the US for several years did not make that top ten list. Isn't that interesting? That's because government is a huge employer in Virginia and the Washington DC area. Another surprise, Los Angeles was ranked behind San Francisco, CA based on population size alone that is eye opening. Miami, FL and Boston, MA also missed the top ten. I wish they released a ranking of the top 25 cities to find finance jobs instead, that would be much more helpful for people happy in smaller to medium cities like Providence, Rhode Island.
Dallas and Houston, Texas beating NYC for finance jobs isn't news to me because as a busy high-performance resume writer with clients nationwide, I hear feedback from many clients. I have seen a few consistent trends in Finance, Hiring in Finance and Finance Employment:
1) NYC area finance, investment and banking employment has been shrinking since 2007!
2) The Great Financial Crisis, Bear Stearns Failure, Lehman Brother's Bankruptcy, AIG's government/tax-payer bailout, the Mortgage Meltdown and Bernie Madoff's massive ponzi scheme, the extended cover up of same, and all the reported information/disclosure resulting from same hurt. They gave the NYC Finance & Investment world two black eyes. As a result of that negative stigma, investors are investing in safer alternatives like gold & silver, real estate, master limited partnerships, REITs, CDs, Annuities etc.
3) Many finance, investment and banking offices have moved to more tax friendly states like Texas, Tennessee, Nevada and Florida. Growth, lower taxes, business friendly climate, warmer weather, lower cost of living, wealthy residents and a great educated workforce, what's not to like?
3) People have and are relocating to the sunbelt states with low and no state income tax for the same reasons as #2. In this highly competitive world people often must relocate to find employment or advance their career. It's just a fact of life now. Corporations even do it.
4) Dallas (DFW), Houston and Austin, TX and most of Texas are wonderful places to live overall. Who wants to buy a home where real estate prices plummet at the first sign of a recession anyway?
My clients have been getting hired quick in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex and all throughout Texas during the recession. Overall, this news should be very helpful to job hunters. I thought it would help if you heard it.

Here's How You Can Get Hired at Google, Apple, Bing, LinkedIn, Facebook and Yahoo!
By Darrell Z. DiZoglio of http://RighteousResumes.com Copyright 7/25/2014
Let's face it Google, Facebook, Apple Inc., LinkedIn, Bing, Goldman Sachs and other industry leaders/innovators have momentum. Facebook stock recently even made another all time high. Apple Inc. just acquired Beats by Dr. Dre and Bing and Google's search engine competition is making history. The wildly popular technology leaders are revealing more of their secrets. As you know, Google and Facebook plan to hire thousands more new employees this year. Here is what to expect when you apply for a career/dream job at Google or Facebook.
Simply put, the most admired companies in America do not want their hiring process to be a secret because that would make it more difficult to acquire top talent. I find great info source for the Fortune 500 companies to be my clients/their applicants who are hired there. I listen to their feedback. These titans of industry often ask for an exchange of ideas during the interview process. The great companies are always asking, "How can we do this better?" Thus, make sure you are prepared with some great ideas as I am told they are great listeners. Naturally teamwork and collaboration is very big at these global giants.
Please know you that the finest companies want to see a resume that shows expertise, experience and education in alignment. I ask my clients a standard question, "What would be your dream job?" The typical reply I get is: "Well sure in a better economy, I would like to work in Management with Apple, Google, LinkedIn or Facebook, but I did not go to a big name college." Well thanks to Google's own presentations and numerous Facebook sources, I say think again because Google and other Fortune 500 Companies are always looking for the best and the brightest. Moreover, these companies can actually capture more market share during a recession. Here is what to expect when you apply for a career at Facebook, Apple or Google.
The content of your résumé and LinkedIn profile will be the critical deciding factor in whether or not you are interviewed, hired and how much annual compensation you will be offered. The hiring managers of top tier companies rely on the evidence included in said documents (Leadership, LinkedIn recommendations, results, accomplishments, awards and recognition etc.) Furthermore, the writing, editing and strategy in your resume is proof of intelligence or lack of it to them. Why be ordinary when your resume is compared side-by-side with other top candidates?
Naturally, you can apply online where you can expect an aptitude test as part of the process. Now since they have massive volumes of applications, make sure you have a a great unique selling proposition. After you have submitted a resume and cover letter, typically someone already working in the position you are targeting will call you back with a brief phone interview. You may have more than one of these. The application is easy and the phone screenings are friendly, yet all business. What you have to be really well prepared for is the marathon personal interview process they have at headquarters. This is where they get to know the real you and vice versa.
According to a Google Executive's thorough presentation you can expect five interviews lasting around 45 minutes each. They will be testing your real life problem solving skills to verify your talent is genuine in each interview. They are looking for: A strong educational background, a passion for technology, creativity and problem solving abilities, someone who not intimidated by great minds and the ability to function as a team player with the diverse international crew that is Google. Essential soft skills like communication, listening, collaboration, flexibility and your interpersonal skills will be rated and notes will be compared.
Honestly, it would be a great idea to prepare for this by studying what Google and Facebook has to offer today. You also might want to study what Yahoo!, Bing (Microsoft), Ask.com, and LinkedIn have to offer for competition. This way you will be perceived as "with it" and "in the know" because this Internet search engine technology is a rapidly evolving field. I doubt that in 2006 Google or Bing ever thought of Facebook or LinkedIn as competition for their Internet advertising revenue streams. But today, Google and Bing know for sure Facebook has taken a huge piece of their advertising revenue streams away.
My best advice is to develop a connection or two first before even think about applying there. This is what business lunches are for by the way. Get some great inside info and use that as well as the referral to put you ahead of the masses. If you have read my other articles you will know just what I am talking about. I only want you to enter a contest when you have a winning edge.
Another strategy that works is to go to work for a company that would be very attractive for a Most Admired Employer/Top Ten Best Employer to acquire. This requires a little bit of vision and research, but it is well worth the effort because you win either way. The news articles about Facebook's IPO, Apple Inc. and Google's stock options employee benefit bonanzas are true. That is why they have such little turnover. Thus, you will need to be more prepared than the other 200,000 applicants they each will get each month.

Job Search 501: Essential Business Communication Tips
By Darrell DiZoglio, HPRW of http://RighteousResumes.com Copyright 8.18.2012 all rights reserved.
Approximately 90% of all business emails sent out by people in a job search have no automatic email signature with all the senders contact information at the end. This is vital because normally a discussion has to happen to set up employment interviews. Something like this, I have some time available on Tuesday to interview you. Do you mean this Tuesday as in tomorrow or next Tuesday the 15th? Tomorrow. That works for me if we can start any time after 5:30 pm or any night after 5:30 is ideal. I'm only available between 12 noon and 2 pm tomorrow, after that I am on a business trip to Tuscon, Arizona. Can you get away from the office for lunch tomorrow?
Busy people tend to prefer brief phone calls (instant two way communication) versus exchanging dozens of emails, texts or instant messages. Another thing, in business most hiring managers are 40+ years old, well educated and they are paid to make judgments that protect and contribute to their company's success. Therefore, you the job hunter must cater to their needs and always anticipate what they would want.
Thus, you emails should always have an automatically added signature with your full name, two good phone numbers, your personal email address, your Linkedin.com profile or other helpful website address. Employers will seldom communicate with you through a work email if they are recruiting (no work emails are private). Go to your email settings to set up one or more email signatures you can automatically stamp all your emails with (personal and work).
Next, all business emails should be written in business style that shows the readers you are an intelligent, highly competent professional. Using text message style communication (st8, gr8, LMAO, <3, b4, T1, #*@!&$#@ etc.), misspelling words, grammatical errors, punctuation errors, usage errors and logical errors paints an indelible picture in the employers mind. Make sure your first impressions are all good ones while you are in a job search. If not, it is likely you will be ignored, not considered or removed from contention.
In general, avoid discussing politics, sex or religion in business or recruiting emails, interviews or communications unless you are certain of your audience's views are aligned with yours. Make sure you show some intelligence by using strategy that would be viewed as favorable by employers (stalking is frowned upon). Any type of exaggeration or grandiose prose will repel business people like the plague. Avoid it. Portraying yourself as a victim, cursing/swearing, being too emotional or showing desperation is also counter productive. Humor is terrific of course because it makes people smile and laugh, however obscene, racial or risque jokes are strictly off limits.
Never email or fax your resume, cover letters or follow up letters from your current employer or your business email address. There is no privacy in any case, you leave a paper trail, and it is normally against the rules of employment. Most employers view this as a great offense, being paid to work doesn't include job hunting for a new job at the local competition. You are being paid to work and produce only for your employer. Thus, you should never list your work phone or work email on a resume, cover letter or email. Be discrete and avoid obvious conflicts of interest in your job search, so hiring managers will respect you more.
Did you know that hiring managers, HR personnel and supervisors will review your Google search results on your name? Make sure these search results are favorable ahead of time.

Why Regular Exercisers Really Earn Way More Than Coach Potatoes
By Darrell DiZoglio, HPRW of http://RighteousResumes.com 6/21/2012
After eight years in as a High Performance Résumé Writer and plenty of experience as a Mortgage Consultant and Hiring Manager, I have interviewed thousands of people face to face. Naturally, I also saw all their income documentation, knew their real salaries and annual compensation rates. One thing, I noticed for sure was that given the choice, employers would rather have attractive or physically fit people representing their company. You have already noticed this for years in the commercials on TV, so you know this to be true. It seems, that simply put sporty or active people have a more attractive vibe or a higher rate of vibration overall. The end result, regardless of the economy is that fit people earn more money because they are more in demand.
Certainly, Prince Fielder, John Candy, Cedric the Entertainer, John Belushi, Chris Farley and John Goodman all laughed all the way to the bank. However, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Tiger Woods, Derek Jeter, Chipper Jones, Alex Rodriguez and Robin Williams did even better (opera singers are an exception). Here are the top ten reasons why those who are physically fit will earn more than ordinary couch potatoes:
1. When you look good, you feel good.
2. When you feel good, you perform better.
3. A fit body is clear evidence of self-discipline (or at least good genes). Certainly, employers think that those with strong self-discipline are more apt to succeed in business.
4. When you look better naked, you simply ooze self-confidence and that is attractive (it's animal magnetism).
5. Exercise carries more oxygen to the brain and that means clearer thinking. It also stimulates the peristaltic action of the intestines and removes waste from the body much more efficiently. This also, leads to clearer thinking, far better judgments and deeper focus. Meanwhile, the rest of the population routinely suffers from constipation.
6. Exercise produces brain chemicals called endorphins that release joy, contentment and happiness. This means you are able to function better in a team environment at work.
7. Let's face it regular exercisers are often flat out better looking. Thus, it is only natural that they are hired first and earn more. Who would you want as the face of your company, an athlete or a slobone?
8. Genuinely attractive people have told me for years that they just put their photo on their résumé and they are always hired in no time flat. Of course, that can encourage all sorts of issues and stalking behavior. I wouldn't recommend that to business, health care, technology or academic professionals.
9. Compensation for employment will always be subjective. Equal pay will never be legislated here in America because it is just too complex.
10. Exercise is the healthiest way to banish stress from your life! "A dog in the hunt never knows he has fleas." Anonymous.
11. Excess blood sugar is soaked up by your muscles instantly if they have been exercised recently. If they have not, then typically an excess of blood sugar makes you sleepy vs. productive. For better or worse, this pattern repeats daily leading to high productivity or low productivity.
The only conclusion, I can reach after years of first hand observation is that if you want to earn more and get hired faster you simply must make exercise a regular habit. The physical, chemical and emotional benefits are all right there within your grasp. Go ahead and drop that TV or video game habit that has been holding you back. When you substitute physical activity instead, you will reap multiple rewards. Who knows, this could be just the tipping point you have been waiting for… I can tell you that it definitely worked well for me. Caution, take small steps you can't become an athlete overnight.

Learn How Faith Will Help You Find Employment - Don't Hide Your Faith Under A Rock!
By Darrell Z. DiZoglio, CPRW of http://RighteousResumes.com Copyright 1/19/2012
This info article to accelerate your job search is not just for those in the Bible belt, it is for all Americans. Perhaps by now you have noticed that responding to job postings isn’t working for you. If so, I am suggesting you separate yourself from the herd by doing the unthinkable! That’s right; I’m suggesting that you show evidence of your faith right on your résumé.
Why, you might ask? Well, first of all, 90% of North Americans have faith in God. The remaining folks are either atheists or disinterested. Contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of atheists do not hate Christians, Catholics, Baptists or Jews, in fact as near as I can tell they are usually a bit jealous of our faith.
Secondly, people of faith tend to be nicer, kinder and gentler folks. They are known as people of high integrity. They also tend to appreciate the company of other faithful people. If you happen to note that you volunteer as a church treasurer, missionary or Sunday school teacher at Lakewood Church in the community service section of your résumé, who in their right mind wouldn’t appreciate that? In fact, would you even want to work for a boss that was a militant atheist anyway? Frankly, I have always included a statement of faith on my résumé because it is guaranteed to repel the horrible bosses.
Additionally, you can include a few references to your faith on your Linkedin.com profile as well. I say this as a High Performance Résumé Writer who has helped thousands earn secure employment and higher salaries over the years. I have to tell you the extra level of help that you receive from the faithful in networking groups, associations, church and charities is above and beyond what you would receive otherwise. After years of helping clients in the Bible Belt and the rest of North America, I can assure you that being unemployed and faithful has too many advantages to ignore, especially when it comes to personal networking, which is widely known as the #1 way to secure employment during a challenged economy.
Many of my clients proudly state that they went to Providence College, Notre Dame University or Brigham Young University. All these folks know there is a tighter bond between members of the same faith. Similarly, if you compare an average American to a person who is a member of a large church, the churchgoer is bound to have a much larger and much more helpful personal network. There will also be a more conditioned defensive response to all manner of temptations, which is due to both effective parenting and the influence of the church during youth and early adulthood. Employers favor stability, honesty and solid ethics just as much as they dislike those with criminal records. It is just that they cannot advertise any of their personal preferences. However, as sure as night follows day, these preferences do exist.
When you show evidence of your faith to potential employers, hiring managers and your professional network, I know from firsthand experience you will be admired and respected for it. The feedback my clients give me on this is overwhelmingly positive regardless of their location in the U.S. Far too many people are meek and weak in the faith department. Regardless of what others may say there is no law against showing evidence of your faith on your résumé or LinkedIn profile. Furthermore, the overwhelming feedback from my clients is that this practice is helpful, because they are viewed more favorably right from the beginning. In fact, many clients carry over this practice to their business as well.
There are also many employment opportunities with faith-based organizations. Consider Christian Music Radio (KLTY or KLOVE are both awesome to listen to via the Internet by the way), faith-based schools and colleges, nonprofits, retailers, camps and charities for starters. Then there are always regular businesses of every type that just happen to be strongly Christian, Baptist, Catholic or Jewish because of the family that owns them. These businesses are often thriving when others are not because their clientele is so fiercely loyal. If you have been unemployed for too long, try something different and embrace faith based networking, church and show evidence of your faith on your résumé. The results might just surprise you. Besides, why on Earth would you cater to the 10%, when you can cater to the 90%?

JOB SEARCH 501 - YOUR ATTITUDE, FAITH AND BELIEF IN YOURSELF WILL DETERMINE YOUR RESULTS
By Darrell Z. DiZoglio, CPRW of http://RighteousResumes.com Copyright 1/19/2012
Show people you live with an attitude of gratitude. When you are in a job search your attitude rubs off on everyone you meet. Here is proof you are wealthy, loved and blessed beyond your knowledge. A few helpful ideas to present those in dire need of happy thoughts and inspiration during tough times. If you ever want to enjoy true happiness and prosperity, I would urge you to train your attention on God's gifts everyday of your life. That way, you will realize you are already wealthy, healthy, free and living in God's unlimited love and abundance.
There are two types of wealth in this world, God's and the fleeting material wealth of humanity. God has endowed us with the magnificent planet Earth, which is clearly the diamond of the Milky Way galaxy, health, intelligence, freedom and an unlimited capacity to love. God's love for us is inexhaustible as is our own supply. Has anyone ever asked you how much love do you have left? Not likely because your supply is so large it is not even measurable.
There is also no disputing that the Earth, our good health and love are all wonderful gifts beyond measure. The Earth came with everything in nature from the trees and seas to the humming birds and bumblebees. We know all of nature is beautiful and awe inspiring all you have to do is surround yourself with it, observe it with binoculars or watch the stars with a telescope. Give yourself this gift again and protect it from harm. Stay focused on all your blessings.
Love, God created us in his divine wisdom so that the more love we give away the more we receive. As anyone over 21 knows, love is without a doubt the most splendid gift of all. If that alone is not proof there is a God, please create a human being from the dust and make sure he is intelligent, beautiful, free, intelligent, self-healing and in good health. Only then will I believe you (cloning does not count).
Good health is also definitely one of God's greatest blessings; our bodies actually heal themselves when left alone. As mere mortals, we normally only become aware of how precious this gift is when we have lost it temporarily. Perhaps age only exists to make us aware of what a wonderful gift this is. Does, death exist only to make us aware of what a wonderful gift life is? If it does, even funerals aka "celebrations of life" are a blessing. Carpe diem (Live for the day)!
Intelligence, talent and the capacity to learn are marvelous gifts. Learning helps us to contribute for the greater good, and become valued and productive members of society. If you have ever risen above challenges, surmounted obstacles and been victorious in your endeavors or studies, you can appreciate this gift. Again, it is nearly impossible to appraise its worth because your ability to learn and grow has no limits.
Freedom, now that might be the ultimate gift second only to love. Clearly, our ancestors knew its value for they contributed to the Constitution and Magna Carta. Anyone who has known tyranny, oppression or captivity knows freedom to be priceless. It is so terrific here that every day we can choose to be working towards the unlimited opportunities that are ours in America, tend to our garden, enjoy our family or friends?
Children, dogs and cats, even our children and favorite pets have an infinite supply of unconditional love. Now, that is as amazing as it is true. God so loved the world that he even gave us Jesus his only son, to show us the way and later allowed him to be sacrificed for the forgiveness of our sins. Enlightened people give thanks for this every Sunday or at least twice every year at Easter and Christmas church services. Don't you honestly have plenty to be thankful for? Why not focus on that every day instead of your problems? If you accept all these truths, then you know that often less is more.
Mankind, gave us a small sample of material wealth, governments and the concept of time, all of which are fleeting, taxing or at best come and go as they please. All are limited, difficult if not impossible to master and oh so elusive. In short, there is nothing that compares to God's gifts. Hence, if you ever want to find your dream job and make it a reality, I would urge you to train your attention on God's gifts everyday of your life. That way, you will realize you are already wealthy, healthy, free and living in God's unlimited love and abundance.

How to Double Your Response Rate from the Most Admired Employers
By Darrell Z. DiZoglio, CPRW of http://RighteousResumes.com Copyright 7/25/2014 all rights reserved.
Recommendations for job hunters that want to earn $50K-$500K annually:
- Realize that executives, hiring managers, HR managers and successful recruiters are very busy people, especially at top tier employers like Google, Facebook, Linkedin, Apple Inc. and Goldman Sachs. Now, act with proper respect for their time (be helpful not pushy). Example – follow up with one email vs. three phone calls.
- Make sure your cover letter is professionally written as well as your résumé. If one is and the other is not, there is often a glaring difference that hiring managers/recruiters will notice.
- Never use texting language/spelling when you are in a job search, its a serious turnoff.
- Never assume the spell check in your email will catch all the errors. Even if you are lucky, it might catch 45%. Read your correspondence aloud slowly before pressing send and then print it out to proofread it on paper. It works. Automated spell checkers normally miss errors with numbers, logic, homonyms, proper names, addresses, websites, abbreviations, email addresses, foreign words/phrases, industry jargon, company names, software and website URLs.
- Always follow the instructions on the employer's website and in their emails verbatim when you apply. Ditto in emails and calls. It is scary how many professionals miss this and you will likely never have a chance to recover.
- If the employer did not provide an option to attach/upload a cover letter, then make it so it is the first page of your résumé then submit it. Why be ordinary when you can be extraordinary?
- Read all your emails from employers/recruiters thoroughly (scroll all the way down). Answer all their questions even if you are responding on your iPhone/iPad/Smart Phone on the go. The last thing employers want is to play email tag with you, so pay attention (stop multitasking).
- Avoid giving employers a list of questions while you are still in the initial screening stages. Employers have websites with careers pages and about us pages. Do your own due diligence ahead of time because you will need to prepare for the interview anyway.
- If there is any doubt, most writers/editors/proofreaders will gladly provide you with proofreading services at $5/page before you send your documents out.
- When you have no interest, response or interviews for months, something is wrong somewhere. Seek professional help from a Certified Professional Résumé Writer not an automated résumé builder (ng) or a cheap and fast typist. Know that great writers cannot afford to giveaway their services for peanuts.
- Be logical, keep the original job posting for reference, interview preparation and follow up. You will want to hammer home how you meet and exceed all of their requirements. Oh and if you do not meet the requirements, why did you reply? You need to know there are 50 million Americans out of work right now, so this means there is an average of 15 well-qualified candidates for each job vacancy.
- Follow up is essential. Create and organize a system to track your follow up on career opportunities while you are in a job search. Keeping a job search journal that tracks your progress daily is a big help.
- Know that employers prefer to hire candidates recommended to them by a trusted source or insider by a 10:1 margin vs. strangers that just reply to job postings. Now act accordingly.
- Know that employers prefer to hire passive (employed) candidates vs. unemployed candidates by a 10:1 margin. Now act accordingly.
- Sure, everyone wants to know the starting salary range and the name of the employer ASAP, but if the employer/recruiter wanted to give it to you in the early stages, you would already have it. Cool your jets, the employers hold all the cards today.
- Recognize that your Linkedin professional profile will be reviewed and evaluated by employers.
- Recognize that your Linkedin profile is the best form of free or nearly free marketing and advertising you will ever have. Earn some Linkedin recommendations and make it a stellar presentation. Google, Apple Inc., Facebook, Linkedin and Goldman Sachs only hire the best period.
- Focus on the employers most likely to hire you and reply to those opportunities where you are an above average to excellent candidate rather than mass distribution. Yes, you must always meet the employer's requirements unless there is a genuine scarcity of qualified candidates in your profession. The Most Admired Employers do not want second or third tier candidates.
- Make sure you have a unique selling proposition and a positive attitude that will resonate with employers.
